How terribly disturbing that you would vote to include ICE funding in the reconciliation package without demanding the same constraints and safeguards that other law enforcement must meet. So yes, in the dead of night, knowing that you don't have the support of the American people on this, you vote to make sure it can go forward without bi-partisan agreement. So sad and disturbing.
Did you avoid the videos and stories about ICE's terrible overreach, brutal tactics, unlawful behavior, and sheer violence? Do you not hear from constituents who know folks so abused and see how it is not the worst of the worst but decent hard-working folks, often with legitimate status who are being hounded, families torn apart, denied due process?
The slight glimmer of hope is that the reconciliation bill has a long way to go yet. You can still mend your ways and demand full accountability and conformity with law enforcement standards.
For all our sakes, stand up to the bullies and do the right thing!
