Original Music from Brian Dyer Stewart #23

Dear family, friends, and fellow travelers,

The song this cycle is One of These Days, co-written last June with May Lily Lee, a musician and videographer in Virginia.  It has been a year when the deep, festering wounds of racism and inequality have been too painful and raw to turn away from, though such turning is the long habit of White culture.  The eruption of anger, rage, solidarity, sorrow, suffering has so many voices they knock on the doors of our hearts and demand an audience with our nation, a reckoning and commitment to change.  One of These Days came in the space after rage, wihin sorrow, moving to reckoning.  It could slip into a lullabye but our hope is that it reaches into the place in our hearts that knows that Now is the Day, that the song sets up a rhythm and melody to keep us steady and moving toward justice, gives encouragement for the struggle.  May Lily made a video that uses the song as the soundtrack.

Here's a playlist of all the songs from the newsletters.

In these times of no live performances, I'm sending you a bi-weekly offering from original music I've been writing over many years, including a new round of songs that has sprung from the recent stay-at-home time. I've been so bold as to add your email to my newsletter list.  You can unsubscribe at any time (link at the bottom of the email).

Many songs are recorded solo, some are from different musical twinings from over the years - all are original tunes, with some occasional collaborations.

My best to each,

Brian
